BuildEasy is an innovative web design management system that efficiently streamlines the current design and development approach to websites. It is part of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and is designed to help users create and manage websites using a drag-and-drop interface, without the need for coding or technical expertise. It empowers BMS and its partners with a seamless method of managing digital information. It also offers features such as content personalization, analytics, and optimization to help users create engaging and effective digital experiences for their audiences.

BuildEasy allows for the same integrations you use today. Deep links in FTEs, consent management, email notifications, chatbots—if you need it, we can connect to it. You can download a list of commonly used integrations here.

What's different is you need to identify these integrations during your user experience planning and include them on your Intake Form. IT will incorporate them into your page build during setup.

Any new component requests can be submitted; however, they will be added to the backlog and prioritized based on a number of business questions. Please use our BuildEasy Governance form to complete your request. The vision for the tool is not to have multiple components but to have a mindset of being creative within the existing templates and components.

Remember, we are leading a shift in ways of working, so please continue to champion the components available in the tool. You can also track any updates via the Production Release Notes. As components are added or modified, both the Design Lab and Authoring Guide are updated.

The great advantage to BuildEasy is you no longer have to submit a JIRA ticket and wait in a queue to update your published page!

Editors can log in and edit their pages independently. Please refer to Knowledge Video 2 for a guided walk-through of the editing process. You can also download and share the Publishing Job Aid for step-by-step instructions.

Sites can be setup with little-to-no asset handoff. However, there are several assets required to complete a website. Some examples include translations, sitemaps, scripts, meta tags, form design files, videos, photos, icons, and logos. A listing of required assets will be shared in JIRA during the build phase.

Assets can be uploaded to 3 different places. Each area requires different file types.

  • JIRA story: small files like Excel sheets or text documents including, translations, sitemap, scripts, config, robot and meta tags. Form design files or wireframes should also be uploaded
  • Workfront: large files including videos
  • BuildEasy DAM: image files or documents to be included in the site. For example icons, logos, favicon, PDFs and photos

Assets can be uploaded at any time during the build phase.

BuildEasy is designed to help users create websites quickly and efficiently. Simple, static-content sites can be authored in days. While even feature-rich sites using BuildEasy standard components can be completed in weeks. The timeframe for building a website using BuildEasy can vary depending on a number of factors, such as the complexity of the design, the amount of content that needs to be created, and the level of customization required.

You know you need a website, and BuildEasy could be the tool to support you, but how do you plan for your website build?

  1. Ideation—Collaborate with your market team to define your website goals, target audience, and key features.
  2. Project Brief—Next, you'll draft a project brief. BMS has a Briefing Excellence Resource where you can find Best Practices and Templates.
  3. Kickoff Meeting—Hosting a kickoff meeting allows you and your stakeholders to review the project brief and get on the same page.
  4. Intake Form—Next, you'll complete the BuildEasy Intake Form, which collects some basic information about your website for setup.
  5. Assets Checklist—Along with the Intake Form, your agency partners will provide IT with all assets required. Use BuildEasy Website Agency Assets Checklist to collect and organize these assets.

All websites must follow MSDP guidelines found here: BMS_U.S._MSDP_Commercial_Website_Standards.pdf

Yes! If you already have a domain name for your website, you can use it for your new BuildEasy site. The BuildEasy team can help you switch over your existing domain to your new site, and this can typically be done within the Pre-PTP to PTP timeframe.

If you require a new domain name that you would like to use for your new site, the BuildEasy team can handle this. Just be sure to provide the requested domain ideas on the Intake Form so that the BuildEasy team can assist you with the domain purchase and setup. The purchase and configuration time period is currently 30 days.

A website project brief is a document that outlines the goals, objectives, and requirements for a website project. It is typically created at the beginning of the project and serves as a road map for the entire project team, including designers, developers, and stakeholders. A project brief should accompany all kickoff meetings.

A Project brief should include a clear description of the project's purpose, target audience, and desired outcomes. It should also outline the project scope, including the number of pages, features, and functionality required. Additionally, the brief should include any technical requirements, such as hosting, content management systems, and integrations with other systems.

Key sections include:

  • Background
  • Objectives
  • Audience
  • Requirements

A kickoff meeting is a meeting that marks the beginning of a project. During the kickoff meeting, the project team will typically review the website project brief and intake form, discuss any questions or concerns, and establish a plan for moving forward. This may include setting project milestones, assigning tasks and responsibilities, and establishing communication protocols.

A kickoff meeting is an important step in ensuring that everyone involved in the project is aligned on the project goals, processes, and requirements and to ensure that everyone is aligned on the project scope and timeline.

It is typically attended by the project team, including stakeholders, designers, developers, and project managers.

A BuildEasy Alignment meeting is held between the BuildEasy team and the stakeholders of a project to ensure that everyone agrees with the project's goals, objectives, and requirements.

An Alignment meeting is an important step in ensuring that everyone involved in the project agrees with the project goals, processes, and requirements and to ensure that everyone is aware of their role. Questions and discussion regarding requirements and solutions can begin during an alignment meeting.

The alignment meeting occurs before the site build phase in BuildEasy.

It is typically attended by the project team, including stakeholders, designers, developers, and project managers.

BuildEasy Editor access is requested through the intake form. Editors can begin authoring within a few days of site setup completion.

Reviewer and Publisher access is not required to set up a BuildEasy site. However, their access can be submitted through the Intake form or at any point during build phase.

Reviewers can request access directly through the myBMSAdobe AEM Platform Access form https://bmsnprod.service-now.com/ep?id=ep_sc_cat_item&table=sc_cat_item&sys_id=3165a926db75d050fd76b2a2ba961918. They need to specify the BuildEasy site name and role type on the form. The site will not be available in the dropdown menu, please add it to the comments section. It will take 3-5 days from the access request until they will be able to view the content.

Currently, Publishing will be performed by the BuildEasy Support team. In the future, as Agencies and Users become more experienced with BuildEasy, a designated Publisher for each site will be appointed. This access will also allow for quick and efficient updates to the site after initial launch.

There are several existing third-party integrations and functional features that can be incorporated into your website. Please consider the experience you want your website visitors to have, and our BuildEasy Support team can help you find the right solution for your needs.

Currently, there is not a complete listing of available functional capabilities that are standard for BuildEasy. We hope to make this available in the soon. Some out of the box functional capabilities include Events & Resources Listings. The BuildEasy team is always available to help at BuildEasySupport@bms.com.

The kickoff meeting is a good place to start. Communicating your desired user experience in the kickoff meeting opens the discussion with all teams on what is required and how to best find an appropriate solution.

The timing of completing the functional solution depends on many factors including complexity, third-party vendor partners and resources.
